These documents provide information on the range performance level descriptors for the HSA-Alt in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Range performance level descriptors are proficiency-level based expectations for students taking the HSA-Alt. Range performance level descriptors are linked to the Hawaii Common Core standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Range performance level descriptors were developed because, under Elementary Secondary Education Act (ESEA) regulations, alternate assessments must be aligned to the State’s grade-level academic content standards. However, alternate assessments may assess the grade-level academic content standards with reduced breadth and cognitive complexity than general assessments.

The HSA-Alt Science Bridge Test Specifications provide information on the 2018-2019 version of the Science test specifications which link the HSA-Alt test items to the HCPS III Science Standards. These have been revised to indicate the content that will be included in the Spring 2019 HSA-Alt Science Bridge Assessments.
